Trending Japan Cities To Visit
Flight comparison site Skyscanner has just published its annual UK Travel Trends report, and destinations in Japan feature several times.
In true British style, weather is the most influential factor in destination decision-making, followed by food and culture.
So where will UK travellers be headed to in Japan in 2024?
Sapporo is ranked the highest at No.5, Osaka came in next at No.6 and Tokyo at No.10.
Skyscanner tracks changes in searches with Sapporo seeing a 276% increase in searches, Osaka 231% and Tokyo 208%.
I thought it was encouraging to see Sapporo rated the highest, and even Osaka over Tokyo.
Since Japan reopened to international tourism just over a year ago, not only have the numbers of tourists been much higher than many predicted, but I've definitely noticed a trend towards getting more off-the-beaten-path and away from the Golden Route.
Oh, and if you were wondering, Vigo in Spain was in the No.1 spot.
