Checking Flights to Japan Using Skyscanner
Wherever I'm flying, I almost always begin my search using the Skyscanner website (but they also have an app if you prefer). I like it because once you add in your flight preferences, it quickly scours the web across a wide range of airlines and pulls all the results together on one page.
If necessary, you can then apply filters to the results to whittle down the matches list to choose the best flights for your needs.
Filters are varied but include some really useful ones, such as whether you want direct, 1 stop or 2+ stops flights included in the results, limiting outbound and return flight times, including or excluding individual airlines, and more.
It has a clean and clutter free interface which is increasingly rare these days (I hate those sites that barrage you with pop-ups and ads) - which makes getting to the information you want quick and easy.
Skyscanner also lets you set price alerts - handy as ticket prices change all the time.
Hiroshima Google Map 2.0 Released Miyajima Lodging Added
I've just released Version 2.0 of my Hiroshima Google Map.
The focus of this latest update was on increasing the range of accommodation options.
To Hiroshima itself I've added the Aki Grand Hotel (pictured above) and Miyajima Hanare-no-Yado Ibuku. Both are just a few minutes from the Miyajima Ferry, making then good choices for those who want to stay on the mainland but be close to the island for day trips.
I've also added a new category specifically for accommodation options on Miyajima Island itself. There are 7 new hotel and ryokan options.
If you already own a copy, when you open the updated Google Map, scroll to the bottom of the menu items to see the new Miyajima accommodation listings.
Here's the full list - details, photos and booking links for all of these are viewable inside the map.
- Miyajima Grand Hotel Arimoto (pictured above) ****
- Miyajima Kinsuikan ****
- Hotel Miyajima Villa ***
- Itsukushima Iroha (厳島いろは) *****
- Jukeiso ***
- Mizuhaso Bettei Hamorebi ****
- Miyajima Seaside Hotel ***
As always, the goal with all the products and content I create for you is to make your trip planning quicker and less hassle, resulting in easier travel for deeper, richer experiences.
I hope this helps. There's more FREE Lifetime Updates to come!
3 Months in Japan - No Japanese
From time to time I receive emails from customers. One I received out of the blue recently was from the American writer Stephen Sawicki.
Last year Stephen purchased one of my eBooks. At that time he told me the thing he was most concerned about was overcoming the fears he'd built up in his imagination about going to Japan.
Fast forward a year, and Stephen returned from his "amazing" first trip to Japan and told me all about it. He spent 3 months, travelling from Hokkaido in the north to Okinawa in the south, all without being able to speak Japanese.
I was so taken by his story, that I asked him if I could share it with you.
He agreed, so here's Stephen's message (with some photos taken on his trip) in which he shares his journey overcoming his Japan travel fears...
